I really don’t like the term Social Media Management. It’s just not one of those terms that’s very intuitive.
Unfortunately that’s the term getting thrown about lately, so if you landed here wanting to know what it is, here goes:
Basically, social media management is the art and science of getting your brand (or even yourself) seen in the online social circles with the frequency and image that you want.
Or, conversely, it’s the process of getting your stuff to have a certain reputation on purpose rather than by accident.
Unless you have some sort of spectacular implosion (Charlie Sheen style) a campaign to get seen and engage with your customers can be very planned and methodical.
You get to drive the conversation while at the same time finding out what your customers really want. Sometimes just a little tweak to what you are already doing can put you miles ahead of your competition.
Your customers will tell you what they will pay a premium for. You just have to listen.
